You don't want to see the same film, but you want to find elements that are in common in both movies. This was happening.
Basically, the remake can stand proudly by its own. The last 20 or 25 minutes were very suspenseful, and I enjoyed every minute of those.
The chase scene was long and scary. I like the scene, where Erin thought that she found "shelter" in a caravan Very pleasant the fact that they included more characters, with the same psychological problems as Leatherface.
And another unique thing that I found was the fact that the family was not patriarch like in prior films , but matriarch.
It was a great difference that made this film extra unique. In my opinion the gore was mediocre. Before watching the film, I was afraid of the gore, because the title by itself contains "chainsaw" and "massacre", and since I watched the film, where the gore was tame, almost non existent, I thought that the remake would he something like a splatter.
In fact, absolutely not. The violence was very tolerable, and for such a film was less than what I was expecting. So, again, in my opinion, the gore will not affect you at all.

Something rare in horror films with young people. I really liked the fact that it was not sexploitation. I also want to say that the story behind the hitchhiker, the baby and her family was very shocking and I liked what Erin did for that.
A thing I didn't liked was that I couldn't feel any 70s vibe. Like, I felt that it was so 00s, even not 90s. And the film takes place in You know.
Oil crisis I would definitely like more the film if the 70s sense was stronger, or at least existent a bit. Only the haircut of Morgan was very cool and in this decade.

Leatherface's travesty of motherly domesticity as he prepares dinner, his child-like dance in the dawn light, the open door at the gas station, the van making it's slow turn off the road towards the derelict and ivy clad Hardesty residence are all images that burn themselves into your consciousness after just a single viewing.
The cinematography is exceptional. Watching the Special Edition, you'd never know that this was shot on 16mm in poor light. The picture quality is outstanding, the colors rich and vibrant, the blacks inky and menacing.
The brilliant azure skies, the jade green of the grass, the bright red generator, the searing sunlight and stifling shadows. Every frame seems saturated in nicotine gold.
Though not always likable, the actors are always believable. Performances are universally startling, but special mention has to go to Marilyn Burns.
It was a traumatic shoot, and it shows. Few actresses have so effectively conveyed mind-numbing terror. The soundtrack is exceptional and deserves more recognition.
It is a great testimony to the experimentation and risk taking attitude of the era that all melody is destroyed under an industrial ambient soundscape of metallic clangs, scrapes and screams, evoking the atmosphere of the local slaughterhouse and the Family's state of mind.
Despite the complete lack of gore or extreme physical violence, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre continues to horrify and holds up the countless, shot-on-video, slasher clones of subsequent years for the puerile crap that they truly are.

Another actor, named Brett Wagner, was cast for the role before Bryniarski, but, on the first day, the actor was hospitalized and fired for lying about his physical abilities.
Without an actor for the film's main antagonist, the filmmakers called and asked if Bryniarski still wanted the role, which he accepted.
To prepare for the role, Bryniarski ate a diet of brisket and white bread in order to get his weight to nearly pounds. Bryniarski would later reprise his role as Leatherface in the film's prequel.
Nispel favored shooting the film in California , but Bay suggested Texas , where he had previously shot three times.
I did that. There's no point in making the exact same film with the exact same look. The remake includes references to the previous film, including John Larroquette , who returns in his role as the film's narrator.
The weather during filming was very hot and humid. Bryniarski, who portrays Leatherface in the film, did all his own stunts and was forced to wear a "fat suit", which increased his near lbs to lbs.
The suit also heated up quickly, so the actor had to ensure that he drank a lot of fluids before a shoot. Leatherface's mask was also a problem; the mask was made out of silicone and was difficult for the actor to breathe through.
The crew had many prop chainsaws for actor Bryniarski to use, such as chainsaws that put out smoke, and live chainsaws. The consensus is: "An unnecessary remake that's more gory and less scary than the original.
Manohla Dargis of the Los Angeles Times praised the polish of Pearl's cinematography in contrast to his grittier work in the original , though noted: "The remake moves faster and sounds louder, but comes off as callous rather than creepy.
