Feb 06, So I am going to give Rest Stop a rating of half a star, because it's fucking terrible, but I must admit, I did have at least a little fun talking shit about the movie with some mates.

The film has a promising start but fell apart after about 10 minutes because nothing made any senses. And there was nothing scary at all, just a lot of gore everywhere.

A very unusual location for a horror movie, isn't it? But that's what i love about this film. Does this move belong on the SyFy or Chiller channel?
Oh, yes. It had those cheesy, bloody, somewhat scary scenes just for those types of channels. I also loved the antagonist in this film, it was pretty cool.

Jun 21, Rest Stop has gotten a lot of flack and I can see why. However the film is not the worst horror film that I've seen.
The film is a borderline decent horror film with a cool concept. Of course the film is not the best, but it's not the worst either. The acting is so-so but what makes this film worth seeing is the villain.
I thought the pickup driver was a good enough villain and really in the current climate of horror, Rest Stop is definitely not the worst film.
The film is original, and pretty intense. But at times I'll admit that there was a few parts that were cheesy and could have been better.
Rest Stop is nothing truly great, but it's still entertaining enough to keep one interested. The film is not that bad, there is worst horror films out there.
Tom decides to go looking for his brother with his girlfriend Marilyn Ward and one of Nicole's friends, Jared Norris , who has had a long time crush on Nicole.
Once they get to California , the trio asks direction from a strange gas station attendant Steve Railsback. Jared finds a horseriding badge that belonged to Nicole, prompting Tom to demand information from the attendant, who tells them that the Old Highway is a mile up the road.
Not long afterwards, Jared stops at a construction site porta-potty which the Driver rams into, covering Jared in feces causing him to strip down to his briefs.
Tom and Marilyn arrive at the rest stop where, while Marilyn is using the bathroom, Tom is kidnapped by the Driver. Inside the bathroom, Marilyn sees Nicole's ghost Julie Mond , in an adjacent stall.
She rushes out of the bathroom to look for Tom, but all signs of him and their truck are vanished. As night falls, Jared changes clothes they got covered in feces during the Driver's attack and as he gets in his car sees Nicole's ghost, which he believes is real.
They then have sex during while Nicole vomits blood and disappears. Jared then runs into the road and comes across the R.
Jared relays what he knows to Marilyn who, in turn, tells him Tom is missing. They decide to hike back to the gas station to find out everything the attendant knows.
Meanwhile, Tom is being tortured by the Driver in the school bus, but escapes while the Driver is gone.
He searches for his brother, finding him tied up in a cage. He frees him and carries him to his truck. Jesse turns to his brother and says "you should have saved me?
Marilyn and Jared learn from the attendant that to put the Driver to rest, they need to burn his eyeballs. But the Driver set a trap for them. The driver feeds a hose through the window and starts pouring gasoline into the room.
Nicole tries to find an escape and is able to open a hatch in the ceiling. Realizing there is no way for her to get him out of the building the officer tells Nicole to use the two remaining bullets in his gun to kill him because he would rather die that way than be burned alive.
She fails at first but eventually succeeds in the grisly task. The driver lights the gasoline and Nicole hurries to get out of the building.
As Nicole is escaping she notices that the officer's body has mysteriously disappeared. Nicole is able to jump from the roof before the building explodes.
Once she is on the ground Nicole encounters the man in the yellow truck once again. He exits the truck, and she sneaks up behind him, striking him with a tire iron repeatedly.
She turns him over and is shocked to discover it is actually Jess, with his mouth sewn shut, sporting other visible wounds.
Nicole sneaks to the convertible where she fills a whiskey bottle that she had retrieved from a nearby Park Ranger's station and fills it with gasoline in order to concoct a makeshift Molotov cocktail to use against her attacker, should he return.
Morning approaches, and she walks down the highway with the driver of the truck approaching her at a rapid speed. After some fumbling, she is able to strike a match and light her Molotov cocktail.
She hurls the bottle at the truck and almost instantly it is consumed by flames, followed by a large explosion. She investigates the truck but finds no body.
After a few moments, she turns around and the man in the truck is behind her. As an epilogue, the film ends with a different girl going to the same rest stop, after it is renovated due to the fire.
She discovers Nicole in the maintenance room and runs out to the Park Ranger who has returned to his post to inform him of her discovery.
He goes into the room, after unlocking it, and no one seems to be present. After he leaves, Nicole is shown behind some janitorial equipment calling out for help and vomiting blood.
The next scene is from the view of a video camera. It shows the father from the RV burying the body of Jess.
