People who have read the book and seen the movie know there's very little resemblance. The names are the same for Liam and Josie, there's a surprise child, and a small town, but other than that the book is a much different story, one that I found lacking depth and emotional connection.
The narration, told in dueling, first person POV is mechanical and tells rather than shows. I never felt strong compassion for Liam's struggles that lead to him leaving Josie.
I hated how Josie treated Nick, who for all intents and purposes was Noah's father. It was, in my opinion, something I might not have finished if I hadn't seen the movie first.
That said, I am interested in reading the next book and seeing Katelyn get her HEA, as her loss was the single most powerful thing about Forever My Girl.

Alex Roe and Jessica Rothe had real chemistry on screen. I wish we could've seen more of them together, more of that passion and meaningful dialogue between them, but this movie is more than a romance.
