This movie is begining of DCCU, so it means it should have started strong, but unfortunately it did not. It is not bad, but it is not great. It is ok.
Movie has a lot of flashbacks, but it should have been done little better. It could have been better. I would love to see him in other movies.
Score is amazing. I didn't like tone of this movie. Because it worked for Batman, it does not mean ot will work for Superman.

Henry Cavill is a decent superman trapped in a movie lacking an identity. The DC cannon is trying hard to cash in on the darker macabre feel of its most successful entry, the Dark Knight trilogy.
The gritty comic reboot is not always the ticket to success, as can be seen in this film. The action scenes are well orchestrated and engaging, but the film lacks heft or emotional investment.
There is jarring lack of proper pacing that invariably stems from the relentless attempt to be gritty and more somber.
Man of Steel delivers all the spectacle of superman, but none of his heart. The excellent Michael Shannon also feels wasted in a weakly built and poorly scripted character.

The first half of the movie is pretty well-made, but the second and third halves are really just a visual aspect of something that we never asked for.
