The aswangs that I'm familiar with are beings male or female that can shape-shift into practically any creature. They can charm, seduce, and deceive their prey to lure them to where they want the prey to be.
Like the manananggal, aswangs favor the heart, liver, and unborn fetus. Overall, I found the movie entertaining.
I think this is a fairly decent movie. It has lots of room for improvements, but, a good budget will be needed I imagine. One thing though, I wish that they would at least try to pronounce some of the terms better, like the term "aswang," or at least get as close as possible to the proper pronunciation.
It can be misleading for people like me who are trying to learn other languages. If you are looking for a Count Dracula type vampire, you won't find it here.
But you will find an interesting take on the Philippine variety. So far, the story is not much of a story, the special effects are bad even for that time period, the camera work is amateurish, and the acting is bad.
Oh, and there are a few times when language is used that some consider offensive. Skip this one. Not even a funny or enjoyable waste of an hour and a half.
The film is disjointed, pacing is bad, story is convoluted. The are b movies that suffer from lack of budget, lack of seriousness, or lack of vision but are still fun to watch because there is skill, talent and some self awareness involved.
The movie was ok, I loss interest by the middle of the film. Confuse on which location the movie is taking place as well as which character was who.
One person found this helpful. If you enjoy wasting time and then feeling bad about it, this is for you. This is a horrible movie. It was poorly written and the graphics must've been done by an 8 year old.

The special effects aren't very good. The story is what earns it three stars. This is a low-budget movie with no star power but it takes a slightly different look at, for lack of a better term, vampires.
Basically the hunter of monsters becomes a monster and then questions: who is the real monster? It's a cheap and fun movie that is worth watching once.
It's interesting to see a different perspective on aswangs. I found it amusing that the aswang in the movie implied that she befriended Dracula.
The infamous Count Vlad, according to the aswang, took care of the Jack the Ripper problem and is the reason why Jack just vanished.
On a side note, when I was little I used to visit my grandparents who lived in a small fishing village in the Philippines. They used to tell ghost stories and tales of supernatural beings and undead.
